When you know which direction you want to go, but don’t yet know how to get there, the task is to find the right path to the possible destination.
As the saying goes “seek and you shall find”. So here we go. I’ll start searching and analyzing.
My options and some thoughts on them:
- One or more tiny houses
- 2 tiny houses. 1 work and 1 residential tiny house.
- Separation of work and living
- Affordable (max. €150,000 combined without land)
- Transportable
- Large garden for growing your own produce
- but…. we can’t find a location and….. due to the wood construction it’s getting more and more expensive!
Here, in a friend’s vacation home, in “Sabine’s Wellness Lodge” the foundation for the decision was made.
- A cottage in the woods

- Somewhere e.g. on the Czech border or in the new federal states
- possibly in need of some renovation
- with the largest possible plot of land
- ideally with its own well
- Costs in Germany min. €250,000
- but … nothing to be found and you’re tied to the house again

- An apartment and an allotment garden
- Living/working and leisure separated
- Reduction of rooms/sqm
- Fruit and vegetables from your own garden
- but … infinitely long waiting times and … the German club mentality and you’re tied to the apartment
- Move abroad and purchase a small cottage or apartment, preferably in the warm south
- Acquaintances in many countries could help
- On-site client appointments only possible with flights or long journeys
- Car still necessary. Hotel also required for client appointments.
- but …
- A motorhome
- You become a permanent camper
- Loss of comfort with simultaneous gain in nature
- Own “garden” at the pitch
- Car still necessary. But no hotel stays required for client appointments anymore. Hotel allowance then also finances the motorhome
- “Escape” to another country easily possible if things no longer suit you here
- but…. can you even get a motorhome with the current delivery problems and a radical sale of all items for which there’s no more space
Finding the right path. Perhaps it works best in the forest. There’s even a sign up ahead!
- A combination of apartment and motorhome

- One of us lives in the apartment (Augsburg because of the job there) and I move into the motorhome.
- Probably the best combination of 2 worlds until we see how things continue for us in this world.
- That’s truly worth considering!
