Anyone who wants to become a nomad faces a challenge first. They might not even be a nomad yet at the beginning!
\nBecause in our beautiful Germany (and not only there) you can’t just take your motorhome, drive somewhere into the forest, and have a great time. Far from it.
\nAs a novice in this area, that would be more than stupid for me anyway, because I need to learn the ropes first. Well, maybe not quite that way\u2014it could hurt. <\/p>\n

That’s why I first need to become a permanent camper. Driving around the area is always possible and I’ll certainly do that. But I need a registered address and also one where my mail arrives. <\/p>\n

That’s why I’ve been searching for my first permanent campsite for a while now\u2014actually, it wasn’t that long.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

My Site Requirements<\/h3>\n

  • Very much in nature. Ideally in the forest by a lake. <\/li>\n
  • Good internet connection. I need it for work. <\/li>\n
  • Ability to regularly drive the vehicle in and out. Because I don’t want to stay in hotels anymore, but arrive with everything I need. <\/li>\n
  • Only the most necessary facilities like washing machine, dryer, showers, etc.<\/li>\n
  • No frills, no fancy site, etc.<\/li>\n
  • Nice, completely normal people without busybody potential. Yes, sorry, but that’s very important to me. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Overall “back to the roots,” although I admit that I’ve certainly never been that much in the roots, so it’s actually just marketing blah-blah. But whatever.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

    The Big Moment<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    And just like that, it’s a done deal for both of us. Signature and handshake with Heidi, the owner of the campsite. <\/p>\n

    I’m already incredibly excited about this new chapter in my life!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

    The Result<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    My spot on a campsite in the middle of nowhere in the Palatinate Forest! (exact location kept secret for fear of too many groupies) okay, I’m exaggerating again. <\/p>\n

    The plot is 120 square meters and has real potential.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

    Planned Activities<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    • Foundation and construction of a metal garden shed for this and that in the right corner<\/li>\n
    • Wide entrance and exit based on grass pavers<\/li>\n
    • In spring, then roll-out lawn, more shrubbery, and my own raised beds and such for self-sufficiency. Yes indeed, I’m becoming a gardener again! <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>

      Costs<\/strong><\/h3>\n

      For those wondering: “What does this actually cost?” I’m happy to provide some answers here:<\/p>\n

      • Annual rent for the site<\/li>\n
      • Waste disposal<\/li>\n
      • Wastewater<\/li>\n
      • Total for me approximately \u20ac1,100 per year <\/strong><\/li>\n
      • Electricity based on usage via a meter and kW price (varies by site)<\/li>\n
